“May My Steps be Worship…” Do We Believe That?

“May my steps be worship,
May my thoughts be praise,
May my words bring honor to Your name.”

This is what it means to pray without ceasing. We wake up with an “our Father in heaven” and we go to sleep with an “amen.”

Worship cannot be contained to a building for an hour on Sunday.

While we can meet together to worship, worship is not a light switch you cut on and off.

Worship is not bound by a list of acts picked from five different verses written across several decades.

Worship is an ongoing relationship with God demonstrated by a life of service and love for each other.

Worship is living a life which has been transformed by the Holy Spirit.

Daniel prayed towards Jerusalem three times a day, but when you live in the most holy place, you can pray in any direction you please.

“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us…” Hebrews 10:19–22

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, on the basis of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable act of worship” (Romans 12:1).

p.s. “act of worship” in this passage refers to the kind of worship they did in the temple (Hebrews 9:1). While the word “worship” is never used to describe a Sunday morning assembly with five ritualistic acts, it is used to describe our lives.

That’s why I love the refrain of this song!

“May my steps be worship,
May my thoughts be praise,
May my words bring honor to Your name.”

  1. This is great bro. But I will first ask what is WORSHIP?
I say this because if care is not taken we will end up with our own definition of worship.
Adam and Eve never had to sing, fast, pray ,sacrifice, go through atonement or redemptive plan (what we call plan of salvation), never went to church on any day, never had to clap or do things of any kind of a ritual to please God and yet they had a common union or relationship with God. And I keep saying this, had it not been the fall of man we all will be living in Genesis chapter 1 and 2. Where God said “this is good”. This is so good that God communicated with man directly.
So bro, I will comment when I get the meaning of worship.
Thank you for your sincere and selfless work. Have a great day.
